You could also talk about the R-controlled syllables in m arshmallow or th ermometer or f ireplace. Or emphasize how to separate a word by syllables For example: Emphasize the vowel teams in the words ‘c ookie’ or ‘evergr een’, by reminding your child that a vowel team is made up of two vowels where the first says its long name. Go over the phonetic sounds for each of the vocabulary words. Reinforce capital letters and punctuation. Teach the two parts of a sentence: subject and verb.
